5 things we wont sing about…all in good fun of course!
5. killing/murdering. i guess songs about murder and running from the law/battling internal demons is a popular topic in the psychobilly scene…yawn.
4. drinking whiskey. a decent drink, boring topic for a song. listen to the caravans “More Whiskey”, they do it best. leave it at that.
3. driving hot rods. down the highway with/without your hot rod mama.
2. going out. we don’t need another rock n roll song about people getting ready to go out. ya ya, you have your hair piled high, your feeling just right, got your baby by your side, your rockin tonight….i get it.
1. vampire girlfriends. none of us have any relationships with any undead brides or demon lovers. This includes all monsters, zombies or any undead creatures for that matter. a very unfortunate, and played out, psychobilly stereotype.
New songs on the Gunsmoke myspace….check em out. They are un-mastered and will be on our next album coming soon…more on that later….good day!

whoa!
a blog! holy shit, i completely forgot about you…
i know we haven’t posted anything all summer, and seriously neglected you, but like the color of the leaves come fall, that’s gonna change. hah!
seriously though, im gonna make an effort to post on here more often. Mainly because were all kinda working, schooling, waiting for touring, and bored.
not like we don’t have a lot of shit to do in the gunsmoke realm….
Phil left the band not too long ago. I guess he’s gonna focus on his other band which can be found HERE.
soooo, we needed yet another drummer (4th in the last year…yikes…)
We found a strapping young lad named Tyler…a friend of ours and a very good drummer. be sure to welcome him next show by getting him a beer or giving him a hi-5. he’s really good at those.
so were just practicing as much as possible getting in shape for our next show at the dom with our friends, The Rookers on Rememberance day. A good time, for a good cause.
Other then that….new songs, unmastered mind you, from our second album are now posted on myspace HERE, and were booking a very long, very fun super tour for 2010…more on that later…

Gunsmoke worth staying up late on a Sunday
Some bands, well, they suck; others are the complete opposite. When the latter play, you hear “it.” The one ineffable quality making them stand apart form the crowd, like Ottawa’s Gunsmoke, who made staying up late on a Sunday worthwhile at the Slice, May 3 with local psychobilly/punk band The Phantom Creeps.
The Creeps put on an energetic and tight set. But Gunsmoke was in another stratosphere all together, winding up the last show of a three-week tour with a blast and a tight, hyperactive set of 45 minutes and 15 some original songs which would do the Ramones proud as far as speed and stealth goes.
Unfortunately, Sam Freeborn’s vocals were drowned out, as his brother Adam tore at his white standup bass like he was trying to strangle it. Lead guitarist Ben Hurlow’s fingers were ablaze while drummer Phil Lemieux was impressive on the skins.
“It’s always great,” Sam Freeborn said.
“We’ve played with a lot of different bands. Rockabilly band the Raygun Cowboys in Edmonton and lots of local punk rock bands,” he continued, adding the band, which started practising as a trio without a drummer in 2006 (Lemieux joined about six months ago), enjoys playing all-ages shows the most.
“Kids enjoy us a lot,” he said, adding this tour they hit everything from Legion halls to basements and even a place east of Nanaimo, which ended up being an old cottage.
